Susan Komen 3 Day Breast Cancer Walk for the 2010 calendar year is officially underway, commencing with the first walk in San Francisco from October first through October 3. This is a fitting time for this event to begin, as October is the official Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
Registration for the 2010 event is still open, but if you would like to participate in this life changing event and have not registered, trained, and raised the necessary funds yet, it would be prudent to register for the 2011 event.
The reasons are simple.
- The Susan Komen 3 Day Breast Cancer Walk can be a physically grueling event. Over the 3 days participants walk a total of 60 miles, 20 miles each of the 3 days. This is not mandatory, and walkers who choose to cut their walk short at any time may do so without penalty. In any case, physical training for at least a few months prior to the Susan Komen walk is highly recommended.
- In order to be a part of this, walkers are required to raise a minimum of 2,300 dollars. This alone can take a great deal of time. Participants who do not raise the required funds are not allowed to participate in the Susan Komen 3 Day Breast Cancer Walk.
If you'd like to join a nationwide team of walkers in the 2011 Susan Komen 3 Day Breast Cancer Walk, donate towards this cause, or help in raising funds through entering a recipe contest, I invite you to visit the Evolving Divas blog.
